Review time here it goes right off the bat; Not pleased. Nothing wrong with mount itself really but it appears my large mid pipe is now hitting the mount and certain times making it obscenely loud at 1st-3rd in the higher rev range. At least I hope that’s the issue. Any times I go under load to high RPM there is, well… A terrible racket that goes away once I push in the clutch. Power delivery and everything feels fine, but DEAR GOD THE NOISE. I was afraid to even go to higher RPMs because of it.

It seems that the group n mount is just a touch taller than the stock WRX one and the rubbing is an issue that happens depending on your exhaust. I can go get larger exhaust hangars to get it out of the way and hang down more. I also don’t have an upgraded pitch stop so I was wondering if the engine was shifting more than the trans to make that noise. For the time being, I might just swap back to the stock one for the time being since I don’t have any larger hangars and the swap will take me maybe half an hour.

Did you do the motor mounts as well? If not the motor could moving the exhaust...I just put Group N motor mounts and a Kartboy pitch mount on and they made a world of difference....buy my factor mounts were shot....I still need to do the Group N Transmission mount just haven’t gotten under the car since it’s snowing!!!! and i’m currently having way to much fun hooning in the snow.

The new Pitch stop mount really added a mechanical engine noise above 4000rpms but other then that seems about the same.

Nope I didn’t. Plan to, just didn’t think to do it all at once. Luckily, it’s easy enough to take the transmission mount out.

Ninja edit: Trans mount. Not the wholes trans

I know with my mustang when I did the transmission mount before the engine mounts the vibration was almost unbearable, then i did the motor mounts and everything was much smoother.

I was just looking at your post on the Transmission mount and cross member bushings, doesn’t look to bad. I did the motor mounts when the motor was out of the car during a clutch job, but they don’t look too hard to do with the motor still in the car.

So many parts to install so little free time to do it in...I’ll get to my transmission mount and cross member bushings soon.

Live and learn I guess. Stiffen the motor before the transmission. At least I’m home and have the garage so once the exhaust cools down I can climb under there and do it “hopefully” pretty quick

I took out the group n mount and left in the crossmember bushings. The mount is exactly what it was. No more obnoxious noise.

good to know, I have the cross-member bushing and Group N Tranny mount, i’m hoping that with the motor mounts already done the tranny mount wont add much NVH.

To do this swap, do i just put a jack under the transmission and unbolt the crossmember? If so i might be able to get to this Saturday and could report back, to confirm or deny that motor mounts help NVH w/ the tranny mount.

Yeah just jack the transmission a bit to relieve pressure and take out the crossmember. Pretty straight forward after that. If you have the kart boy bushings you will have to shave the nubs off of two of the bushings.
